John W. Beyer, age 84 of Sidney, NE passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones in Sidney on Saturday, June 07, 2025. Cremation has taken place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney with Father C.P. Varghese and Father Tim Stoner Officiating. A Rosary Service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Friends may stop by the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 1-4:00 P.M. to sign Jonh’s register book and leave their condolences for the family.

John was born to James and Freda (Kurz) Beyer on July 29, 1940, in Sidney NE. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was an outstanding athlete, graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1958, and a member of the National Guard for 6 years. John was a lifelong farmer; he dedicated his life to working the land, nurturing crops, and raising livestock with unwavering commitment.
John believed deeply in the future of farming and mentoring the next generation, sharing his knowledge and offering guidance. His hands shaped the land, but also the lives of those around him. John found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved children of all ages; he had the biggest smile when playing or watching them play around him. He was an avid hunter who cherished time spent with family and friends at the river. He also enjoyed countless days playing cards with his closest friends and family, where laughter, friendly rivalry, and stories were told. He is known for his strong work ethic, quiet wisdom, generous heart, and love for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Liz of 58 years, son, Nolan Beyer, daughter, Stacy Beyer, grandson, Kaleb Guenther and wife Sarah, and his great-grandchildren, Novah and Lucas Guenther and Ivory Mae due in September, his sister, Nancy, brothers Joe and wife Tamara, Pat, Mike and wife Melinda, and Vince and wife Phyllis, sister-in-law Kathy, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his father, James, his mother, Freda, his twin brother, James, his brothers Paul and Vern, and his sister, Mary.
