February 17, 1972 — July 02, 2025
Jonathan Gerald Arndt of Sidney, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on July 2nd 2025, in Bayard, Nebraska, at the age of 53. He was with his daughter Danelle and nephew Cordell at the time of his passing.
Jonathan was born on February 17, 1972, in Sidney to Gaila and Daryl Arndt. He grew up in Sidney, attending local schools before later earning his GED. Throughout his life, Jonathan held various jobs and was known for his outgoing personality and the genuine friendships he built wherever he went.
In 1997, Jonathan met Brandi Christensen. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Danelle Christensen, in September 1998. “Dani,” as he lovingly called her, was the light of his life.
Jonathan was a proud and devoted grandfather to her three sons: Mathew, Randy, and Daryl. He shared a close bond with his grandsons, spending many seasons of life living with Dani and her boys, always offering his love, stories, and presence.
Jonathan had a deep and enduring love for his family. He shared a strong and constant connection with his mother, Gaila, who faithfully prayed for him and never wavered in her belief in the good within him. He also cherished the memories of childhood with his sister, Lisa—a time filled with love and support from both their parents.
A man of faith, Jonathan believed in something greater beyond this life. He had a kind heart, an adventurous spirit, and a generous soul. His travels took him far and wide, and he maintained friendships across the country—always leaving behind warm memories and laughter.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Daryl Arndt; his grandparents, Clifford and Donna Sanford; his grandparents; William and Florence Arndt; his cousin, Adam McCormick; and Brandi Christensen, the mother of his daughter.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Gaila Wisdom; his daughter, Danelle (Joe) Leitza; and his cherished grandsons: Mathew, Randy, and Daryl. He is also survived by his sister, Lisa (Adam) Frerichs, and their children: Cordell, Johanna, Jillian, Makenna, and Ethan; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
Jonathan will be remembered most for his free spirit, his generosity, and the deep love he gave so freely—especially to his daughter and grandsons. Though his journey through life took many paths, he remained proud of the family he came from and the love they gave him.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
