Alliance police investigating fatal shooting

Alliance police are investigating a fatal shooting and attempted suicide reported late Thursday morning. A woman was killed and a man remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

ALLIANCE, Neb. — A woman is dead and a man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a shooting in Alliance late Thursday morning.

Alliance Public Safety Dispatch received a 911 call around 11:10 a.m. reporting that a female had been shot at 708 Big Horn. Officers from the Alliance Police Department and Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office arrived within three minutes, finding a female victim deceased outside the residence. A male was located nearby with a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities said the man was transported to Box Butte General Hospital. The initial investigation indicates the male shot the female before turning the gun on himself.

Police say the case remains under active investigation, and no further details have been released.
