BRIDGEPORT — A woman was arrested early Friday after deputies say she was driving under the influence of drugs and attempted to evade a traffic stop in Bridgeport.

According to the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy observed a vehicle traveling nearly 20 mph over the speed limit at about 1:18 a.m. on Aug. 22 along Main Street in Bridgeport. The driver initially failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens before coming to a stop.

Deputies identified the driver as Margret A. Cain, who displayed signs of impairment and admitted to taking several narcotics not prescribed to her. During a search of the vehicle, deputies also located a controlled substance and additional narcotics.

Cain was booked into the Morrill County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, multiple drug-related charges, and several traffic offenses, including speeding and failing to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle.
