Ogallala wins Cozad Volleyball Invitational; Sidney finishes sixth

Ogallala rolled through the field Saturday to win the Cozad Volleyball Invitational, sweeping St. Cecilia in the championship.

COZAD, Neb. — The Ogallala Indians swept their way to the championship of the Cozad High School Volleyball Invitational on Saturday, defeating Hastings St. Cecilia 25-22, 25-21 in the title match.

Ogallala opened with straight-set wins over Centura (25-20, 25-23) and Alliance (25-16, 25-22) before topping St. Cecilia to cap the day.

St. Cecilia reached the finals by edging Sidney in three sets (24-26, 25-12, 25-13) and later sweeping host Cozad (25-14, 25-20).

In the third-place match, Gothenburg knocked off Cozad 25-21, 25-19. Centura finished fifth with a three-set victory over Sidney (25-19, 17-25, 25-21). Alliance claimed seventh, sweeping Ainsworth 25-14, 25-18.
