SIDNEY – The Sidney Police Department says it is stepping up patrols this weekend to ensure a safe and enjoyable Oktoberfest celebration.

Police announced they will work closely with the Kimball Police Department to coordinate efforts and maintain safety throughout the city. Members of the Cheyenne County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will also assist officers during the event.

“We want everyone to have fun, but we also want to make sure celebrations are safe,” the department said. Officials encouraged festival-goers to plan ahead, designate a sober driver and celebrate responsibly.
