SCOTTSBLUFF – Scottsbluff police are investigating two unrelated incidents that occurred over the weekend, including a stabbing early Saturday and a DUI arrest following a vehicle pursuit later that night.

According to the Scottsbluff Police Department, officers were dispatched at about 1:10 a.m. Saturday to an alley in the 1700 block between Broadway and Avenue A after receiving a report of a stabbing. A 22-year-old man was found with a stab wound to his chest and was transported to Regional West Medical Center. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Police said a suspect has been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Kiesel at the Scottsbluff Police Department.

In a separate incident, around 10:48 p.m. Saturday, officers attempted to stop a speeding black 2015 Dodge Ram along the cruise route. Police said the driver failed to pull over, and a brief pursuit followed before officers ended the chase in the interest of public safety.

Around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, officers located the vehicle in the 1800 block of 4th Avenue. Following a DUI investigation, police arrested 26-year-old Chandler Maldonado of Topeka, Kansas, on charges of driving under the influence, flight to avoid arrest, open container, and speeding. Maldonado was booked into the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center.
