Wheat Belt Public Power District names new CEO

Wheat Belt Public Power District has named Joseph Michalewicz as its next CEO, beginning in January.

SIDNEY — Wheat Belt Public Power District has selected Joseph Michalewicz as its next chief executive officer, following a nationwide search.

Michalewicz will assume the role in January 2026 at the district that serves customers across the southern Nebraska Panhandle. He joins Wheat Belt with extensive experience in the electric distribution industry, most recently with Grand Valley Power.

Brian Zimmerman, chairman of the Wheat Belt Public Power District Board of Directors, said the board is confident in Michalewicz’s ability to guide the district into its next phase of growth and service.

“On behalf of the Wheat Belt Public Power District Board of Directors, I would like to thank NRECA Executive Search for their collaboration, and I am confident in Joseph’s abilities to lead the district in the days and years to come,” Zimmerman said.
