NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - An Ogallala teen was sentenced in Lincoln County District Court on Monday in connection to a crash that killed her 18-year-old passenger in North Platte.

Judge Cindy Volkmer sentenced Addison Malone, 19, to two to five years in prison for manslaughter.

Malone was originally charged with second-degree murder, motor vehicle homicide, manslaughter and minor in possession of alcohol, but those charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Authorities say she was under the influence of alcohol and speeding when she crashed into a tree outside of North Platte on July 18, 2024. Nathaniel Sandoval, also of Ogallala, died in the crash.
