KIMBALL, Neb. - Two people were arrested Wednesday following a child abuse investigation in Kimball, according to the Kimball Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of child abuse in the 400 block of South Oak Street on Nov. 19. Police said a juvenile’s report prompted the investigation, which led officers to conduct a forensic interview with assistance from Capstone in Gering.

Following the interview, officers and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services responded to the residence. Police said probable cause was established to arrest Becki Russi, 31, and Christopher Stewart, 29.

Russi was taken into custody on three counts of child abuse. Stewart was arrested on two counts of child abuse.

Kimball police said the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the case.

The department noted the arrests are based on preliminary information and that the investigation is ongoing. No additional details will be released to protect the integrity of the case.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
