The Kimball Longhorns boys basketball team showed they are ready for a post season run Tuesday night. The #1 seed longhorns took on the #5 seed plainsmen of Perkins County a night after Perkins County won their way into the game by defeating Dundy County-Stratton in the opening round of subdistrict C2-10 play.

The Perkins County game against Dundy County stayed close with the plainsmen winning by just two points. Tonights game stayed close through the first quarter and into the second. That is when three point machines Braxton Miller and Lincoln Behrend took over. By late in the third, the longhorns had a 20 point lead and by the time the fourth quarter reached the five minute mark, both teams put in their JV players. For Kimball it was to rest the starters. For Perkins County it was a classy way to wrap up a season that has had its highs and lows, and to look ahead to next year. The longhorns won 81-48.

Kimball now moves on to a home game Thursday against #2 seed Valentine in the C2-10 subdistrict final. Both teams may have the wildcard points to continue to a district final regardless of a win Thursday. Right now Kimball has the 4th most and Valentine has the 6th most points in class C2.

Thursday's subdistrict final game will be carried live at 6:00pm on 104.3 KIMB, 1043kimb.com and the free News Channel Nebraska app.
