Leyton Faces Garden County In The D2-10 Championship

DALTON – Leyton will host Garden County in the D2-10 Sub-District Championship game Thursday at 6 p.m. after both teams earned semifinal victories Tuesday night.
Garden County opened the evening with a 75-34 win over South Platte, led by senior Lane Brenneman’s 20-point performance.
Senior Wilsie Lobner followed with 19 points, 17 of which came in the first half.
Sophomore Blake Dean added 13 points, and senior Carver Corfield finished with 10.
The Eagles knocked down four three-pointers and shot 6-of-8 from the free throw line.
South Platte was led by junior Connor Evans with 14 points, while sophomore Braylon McBride added 9.
The Blue Knights hit three three-pointers and went 1-of-4 from the charity stripe.
In the second semifinal, Leyton rolled past Creek Valley 69-33 behind senior Alec Watchorn’s game-high 21 points.
Junior Austin Beutler added 18 points before fouling out early in the fourth quarter, and sophomore Colt Van Anne chipped in 13.
The Warriors knocked down three threes and went 6-of-18 from the free throw line.
Creek Valley was led by senior Mason Timm with 14 points, while senior Zander Polk added 8.
The Storm hit three three-pointers and shot 4-of-10 from the charity stripe.
South Platte ends its season at 8-15, while Creek Valley finishes at 6-14. Leyton improves to 16-5 and will face Garden County, now 19-5, in the D2-10 Championship game at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Cheyenne County Country 95.7 FM and 1340 AM.
