Bridgeport boys end season as district C1-5 runner-ups

The bulldogs fell to Lincoln Christian on Saturday

Saturday saw two teams on the court in Bridgeport fighting for redemption after they bost lost in subdistrict championship games this week. Bridgeport had a poor showing against the #1 ranked team in the state, Ogallala. Lincoln Christian lost to Douglas County West. Both teams still had the wildcard points to make it to a district final. Bridgeport held the higher seed and hosted the final with the winner continuing to the state tournament.

The game stayed close early with the game tied at 11 after one quarter and Bridgeport in the lead by two at halftime, 30-28. Lincoln Christian had a great third quarter and were able to go in the fourth up by six point. In the fourth, Bridgeport got into incidental, and then intentional foul trouble to keep time on the clock and give themselves a shot. Lincoln Christian went 7 of 8 from the foul line in the final five minutes to take the game out of reach for the bulldogs. Lincoln Christian won the district and a ticket to state, 65-55.

The bulldogs wrap up the season 22-6, as the SPVA and WTC conference champions. They lose six seniors going into next year, including Gage Nein and Nik Weibert, but will still have this years junior stand outs Hayes Watts and Landon Dean.
