Michigan State broke through in the fourth with a pair of hits and two walks. A single and a double down the left-field line had runners on second and third with one out, while two walks gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead.

Nebraska answered immediately in the bottom of the fourth. Buck doubled to center and Jesske followed with an RBI single through the left side to score Buck and tie the game at one.

The Huskers grabbed their first lead in the fifth on an unearned run. Moyer doubled to left and scored when Overbeek reached on a fielding error at first base. Nebraska loaded the bases with two outs but couldn’t add to the lead, holding a 2-1 advantage through five innings.

Buck doubled the Big Red’s lead to two after sending an 0-1 pitch 376 feet to the berm in left field for a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Katskee worked around a one-out walk in the eighth and retired the Spartans in order in the ninth to seal the 3-1 victory for the Huskers.

Nebraska and Michigan State conclude the series tomorrow afternoon at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park. First pitch between the Huskers and Spartans is set for 12 p.m. on B1G+.

In the bottom of the fourth, Lauren Camenzind singled and went to third on an error that put Samantha Bland on base. She scored on an H. Camenzind groundout.

Nebraska posted its final run of the game on Kuszak’s homer in the bottom of the sixth.
