SIDNEY - The Sidney Seniors scored 11 runs in their last two at-bats to rally for a 13-7 win over the Bridgeport Bombers Tuesday night at Sidney’s Legion Field. Sidney trailed the Bombers 5-1 after the third inning  before starting their comeback with a run in the fourth. Sidney sent 10 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and eleven batters in the sixth while scoring their 11 runs on 5 hits.

Austin Lulf started on the mound for Sidney and shut the Bombers down in the top of the first inning. Austin Wolfe jump-started the Sidney offense by leading off the bottom half of the inning by singling to center field, stealing second, then third, and scoring on a passed ball to give Sidney a 1-0 lead after one inning of play.

Bridgeport answered with 3 runs on 2 hits in the second inning to take the lead. The Bombers added 2 more runs on one hit while keeping Sidney in check to extend their lead to 5-1 after three innings.

Blaine Russell came on to pitch in the fourth for Sidney, and although he walked two and hit a batter, Sidney kept Bridgeport off the board. That’s when Sidney started their rally with one run in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 5-2.

Sidney took the lead in the fifth inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring 6 runs on 4 hits to go on top 8-5. After giving up a run in the top of the sixth inning, Sidney almost duplicated their performance from the previous inning, sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring 5 more runs for a 13-6 lead.

Bridgeport added a run in the seventh, but a pair of strikeouts and a ground out from Reid Fiscus closed out the game for Sidney 13-7.

Sidney is back in action in a Senior tournament this weekend in Rapid City before returning to Legion Field next Wednesday when they host Fort Morgan.
