NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- The sentence for a man convicted in a 2020 killing in North Platte was delayed for a second time in Lincoln County District Court Monday.

Keith Allen's attorney, Mike Nozicka, withdrew form the case after accepting a position with the Lincoln County Attorney's Office.

Meanwhile, the defense said Monday that they had received a tip about possible jury misconduct during the trial, which could potentially lead to a new trial.

Allen is accused of killing 25-year-old Brett Allen Torres outside of his home in May 2020. He faces life imprisonment for first-degree murder and up to 50 years in prison for possession of a firearm to commit a felony.

Allen's sentencing is now scheduled for March 28th.
