Blizzard warning in effect for northern Sioux County

Dramatic weekend weather continues in the Panhandle, with northern Sioux County under a blizzard warning until 6 AM MT.

HARRISON, Neb. -- Dramatic weekend weather continues in the Panhandle, with northern Sioux County under a blizzard warning until 6 AM MT.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Dawes, Box Butte, and southern Sioux County.

The National Weather Service reports blizzard conditions, with winds gusting as high as 50 mph. The possibility of tree branches coming down is extremely high, NWS said. Slippery road conditions are also prevalent in the area.

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
