The Fox Theater in Sidney will be showing a free documentary, "My Ascension Film" from 5:30 to 7:30 on Thursday about suicide prevention.
The film will also play at Alliance Theater on Saturday, Sept. 10th at 10:00 a.m. following the Alliance suicide prevention community walk. The walk will start at 8:00 a.m. at the Performing Arts Center.
The documentary with play in Scottsbluff at the Midwest theater Sept. 27th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Bridgeport will be showing the movie at Morrill County Community Hospital (MCCH) Training Center on Wednesday Sept. 28th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The documentary is a story about 16-year-old Emma Benoit who struggled with suicide. Benoit learned to walk again after a suicide attempt left her paralyzed.
This journey propelled Benoit's mission to use her painful experience to inspire others.
According to the National Institution on Mental Health's data, 20 people die daily by suicide in the United States. In 2018 about 7,600 young people died by suicide under the age of 25.
Sidney will also be having a suicide awareness walk at 1100 14th Avenue on Sept 18th.
Motivational Speaker Rhianna Brand will be speaking on her life experiences as a suicide survivor at WNCC on Tuesday, Sept. 20th at 7:00 p.m.
A zoom Question, Persuade, and Refer training for suicide prevention is on Wednesday, Sept. 14th.
