One injured in North Platte shooting, one arrested
A 19-year-old man was taken to the hospital after being reportedly shot in North Platte.
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- A 19-year-old man was taken to the hospital after being reportedly shot in North Platte.
The North Platte Police Department said officers and the North Platte Fire Department were dispatched to the area of 4th St. and Eastman on Saturday around 11:30 p.m. for a reported shooting.
Officers said they found a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his chest. Officers received information that a disturbance had occurred between two male suspects and one of the suspects reportedly shot the other before fleeing the scene.
Officials said the victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later transferred to an Omaha hospital.
According to authorities, they arrested 18-year-old Ryland Clemmons around 4:20 a.m. in connection to the shooting. Clemmons was incarcerated at the Lincoln County Detention Center. He has been charged with first-degree assault and use of a weapon during the commission of a felony.
NPPD said investigators have worked through the night collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. Two search warrants have been served and the investigation remains active at this time.
