Gering woman facing felony drug charge, husband convicted of misdemeanor assault
A Nebraska Panhandle man has been convicted of third-degree domestic assault, and his wife faces a felony drug charge after a Tuesday incident in Gering.
GERING, Neb. – A Nebraska Panhandle man has been convicted of third-degree domestic assault, and his wife faces a felony drug charge after a Tuesday incident in Gering.
Shortly after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, authorities were called to Plains Drive in Gering in response to a reported physical disturbance.
48-year-old Wes Smith admitted to pushing his wife, 45-year-old Jaime Smith. He also said that he held her head against a window.
According to an arrest affidavit, he reportedly told Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s investigators that his wife “brought drugs in my house and I was gonna remove them and she wouldn’t let me.”
He reportedly told investigators that “it got rough.”
Wes Smith pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge on Tuesday.
Jaime Smith was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance after authorities reportedly found a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. Shew is due for a preliminary hearing on November 1 in Scotts Bluff County Court.
