There was a noise in the Sidney realm recently. It had a familiar jingle, but a little early in the season.

It was Santa Claus and a few seasonal representatives testing his equipment before the big day.

He was seen escorted on his way through Sidney Saturday by local law enforcement and the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department. Coming to a stop with The Grinch close behind, Santa was greeted by children and parents alike at Cabela's.

In celebration of Santa's early stop, the store was transformed into a Christmas village, complete with rustic cabins, snow-covered hills, elves and decorations.

Photos with Santa were available. Children were also offered an opportunity to write a letter to Santa.
