Supt. Jay Ehler: No justification for school closure as of Monday afternoon, Nov. 28

The National Weather Service is calling for snow tonight and tomorrow morning.

Currently forecasters are calling for 1-3 inches tonight with new accumulation Tuesday of possibly an inch. Sidney School District officials remind everyone to drive safely in the morning and give yourself a few extra minutes to get to school.

Whenever there are potential weather conditions that could be hazardous, school officials will be up early to evaluate the situation.

"This storm does not appear to be severe enough to prompt a snow day, but we wanted you to know we are aware and will keep our eye on the forecast," Ehler said.

Sidney City Manager David Scott said predictions are for three inches or less of snow. The City does not call for a parking ban unless a significant storm is anticipated. However, caution and safe driving is encouraged when winter weather is forecasted.

"A little winter on its way to Nebraska," News Channel Nebraska Chief Meteorologist Geoff Fox said. "Much of the action in the west on-the-ground by wake-up. In the east it's rain, then mix, then snow, hence the lower snow totals. It still looks nasty!"
