Sidney Bookmobile aims to clear up some common misconceptions
You'll see the Sidney Public Library Bookmobile all over Cheyenne County, and you are welcome to climb aboard.
POTTER Neb.- Three days a week, Sidney resident Julie Stokes is out and about with Sidney Public Library's Bookmobile.
With 12 stops on odd weeks and 11 stops on even weeks, Julie only has time to stay in each spot for about 30 minutes. Still, Stokes wants to clear up the misconception that the bookmobile isn't for everybody.
"I would like people to know it is available for everybody. I think sometimes they look at the bookmobile and are not sure it is okay to come in," Stoke said. All Cheyenne County residents are welcome to visit and if something catches your eye, Julie can issue you a library card right on the spot.
As far as selection on the bookmobile goes, well that might surprise you too.
"I wish that people in the small communities knew that I can bring anything that they want, if they just call the library I could have anything on the bus that they would like," Stokes said. When it isn't in Sidney the bookmobile travels to Chappel, Lodgepole, Gurley, Dalton and Potter.
When the bookmobile is in Sidney it makes stops everywhere from the schools to daycare's to places like Sloan Estates and one of the newer stops, the Office of Human Development.
If you'd like details on a stop, or to request a book, call the Sidney Public Library at 308-254-3110.
