Winter weather continuing to force closures, halting traffic

The winter weather continues to have an effect on travel in western Nebraska, with I-80 and Highway 30 still shut down for major portions.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- The winter weather continues to have an effect on travel in western Nebraska.

All areas west of North Platte are facing travel shutdowns as of Tuesday, with the conditions still causing issues as of Wednesday morning.

Both Interstate 80 and Highway 30 remained shut down from North Platte to the Nebraska-Wyoming state line Wednesday morning.

Authorities say they're anticipate those closures might continue eastward, as parking and services fill up in communities and truck stops along the route.

Truckers could be seen crowding stops all along the interstate, with truck stops in North Platte saying they were at capacity overnight.

Authorities have been telling truckers once they get to North Platte to turn around and head back if they can
