CHAPPELL -- The Chappell Chamber of Commerce held its first meeting of 2023 Wednesday.

The February 1 meeting included a review of December minutes and the treasurer's report. Audit of the checkbooks was tabled to the March meeting.

The Chamber also reviewed membership forms and dues. The Chappell Chamber of Commerce offers the first year of membership at no cost.

The membership also agreed Wednesday to retain membership costs from 2022. An annual individual membership is $30, couple $50, nonprofits $50 up to utilities and businesses with an out-of-county office is $160.

The Chamber also offers the opportunity for donations toward the Industrial Fund and the Chamber Bucks Promotions. Short-term loans are made through the Industrial Fund to businesses through an application process.

The Chamber Bucks donation goes toward the 10 percent bonus offered during the July and December Chamber Bucks promotions. The Chamber sold $42,100 in Chamber Bucks during the July campaign and $57,036 during the Christmas campaign, adding $109,049 to the community's economy, according to the January report.

Chappell Community Development Director Shaunna Mashek outlined a few goals she has for 2023. She is seeking grants to help with the golf course, dredging the lake, and improvements at the park. She is also seeking funds to help in replacement of an ambulance, and the preschool play area.

She also wants to implement "Spotlight" articles on community businesses, and ribbon cuttings for new storefront business.

Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Toshia Jones was also present at the meeting. She invited the Chappell community to the Social Hour scheduled for February 23 at the Wildeflower Bakery in Lodgepole.
