Potter community seeking Creative District designation
The village of Potter is seeking to let people know how creative it is, by designating a creative district. "You don't have to be a painter, or sewer, to be creative," Jennifer Thomas said at the Monday meeting. "You just have to enjoy downtown."

"You don't have to be a painter, or sewer, to be creative," committee chairperson Jennifer Thomas said at the Monday meeting. "You just have to enjoy downtown."
The Creative District committee held its fourth community meeting recently. Monday the committee discussed the proposed map of a creative district and what sets it apart from the rest of Potter.
During the committee meeting, committee members noted Potter is known for Duck Pin Bowling, the Tin Roof Sundae, but also numerous examples of art in the community from stained glass to murals and museums.
"Its not just one thing," said Thomas.
She said there is about 30 public pieces of artwork in the community.
A concept discussed at the meeting invites residents to share their stories with quilt blocks.
The Nebraska Creative District Program utilizes the arts as an economic driver to support communities in Nebraska by telling their stories and elevating the value of the arts, according to the Nebraska Arts Council website.
Creative Districts are designated cultural and economic areas where innovation flourishes and neighborhoods come together in the name of art. The program’s flexibility, as designed, means that it can be adapted to any size community, in any location.
