Chadron State splits day one doubleheader

CHADRON, Neb. -- April 1, 2023 -- The Chadron State College softball team won one and lost one against the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls, Saturday, in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
CSC fell in game one 8-3, before winning game two 7-0.
The Eagles tied game one 1-1 after Brady Laucomer reached on an error in the top of the second, scoring Jaelyn Martinez-Lewis.
The Cowgirls responded by scoring two runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings.
Tori Haug received the loss for CSC, dropping to 3-13 overall. In four innings, Haug allowed ten hits and eight runs, while striking out five batters and walking three.
May Milano earned the complete game victory for the hosts.
In game two, Bailey Steinke and Aliyah Rothstein both scored three runs for the Eagles.
Kenzi Garner led CSC in the victory with two RBI's, while Rothstein, Lauren Zimmerman, Jazlyn Arvizo, and starting pitcher Delaney Farnsworth each had one RBI.
Farnsworth, who earned the complete game victory, allowed only one hit while striking out seven batters and walking two in the victory.
Her record improves to 9-8 overall.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow for a double-header. The Cowgirls and Eagles are fighting for the sixth and final RMAC playoff spot with Fort Lewis.
CSC track meet cancelled
CHADRON, Neb. -- April 1, 2023 -- The Chadron State track meet scheduled for Sunday, April 2, has been cancelled, Athletic Director Joel Smith and Head Track and Field Coach Seth Mischke announced today.
The meet was initially scheduled to take place Saturday, but because of the snow, it was moved to Sunday before being cancelled.
There are no plans to reschedule the meet.
