Sterling, Colo. firefighter presented his leather helmet

STERLING, Colo. -- Firefighter Cody Fix completed his probation earlier this year.

On Wednesday morning, April 19, he was presented his leather helmet by Chief Lavon Ritter, the last signification of the end of his probation.

SFD firefighters wear leather helmets traditional to the fire service dating back to the 1820s. When properly maintained, leather helmets last considerably longer than composite helmets.
