FORT MORGAN, Colo. -- The Morgan County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office recovered a skid steer on April 25 reported stolen from a company in Platteville, CO.
A local resident purchased the stolen skid steer from Ruben Arzola-Miramontes, who resides in Weld County.
Based on descriptions from the buyer, Arzola-Miramontes was connected to a black Chevrolet pickup that has been involved in several recent thefts in Morgan County. The thefts include vehicles, trailers, new tires, and tools.
Later in the day, Morgan County officials recovered the flatbed trailer Arzola-Miramontes used to deliver the skid steer to the buyer. The flatbed trailer had been stolen in Dacono, Colo.
On Tuesday evening, Arzola-Miramontes called the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office to file a complaint because he sold a skid steer to a Morgan County resident. The buyer stopped payment on the $16,000 check that he received from the buyer.
Deputy Hernandez arranged to meet Arzola-Miramontes in Morgan County. He was taken into custody, and the pickup was seized to further the investigation. He is being held on a Weld County warrant, and other Morgan County charges are expected as officials continue their investigations.
