Steinke named Gold Glover, six others receive honors
Bailey Steinke was named to the RMAC Softball Gold Glove Team and Delaney Farnsworth and Lauren Zimmerman were named Second Team All-Conference the conference announced on Wednesday.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- May 3, 2023 -- Bailey Steinke was named to the RMAC Softball Gold Glove Team and Delaney Farnsworth and Lauren Zimmerman were named Second Team All-Conference the conference announced on Wednesday.
Four other Eagles including Steinke also received postseason honors after being named 2023 RMAC Softball All-Conference Honorable Mention. They include Tori Haug, Mackenzi Kroll, Sloane Quijas and Aliyah Rothstein.
Steinke, a senior from Lakewood, Colorado, receives her second All-RMAC Gold Glove selection at shortstop. After receiving the award in 2021, she received a medical redshirt during the 2022 season.
This season the senior leads the RMAC with 135 fielding assists with only eight errors, for a fielding percentage of .958.
Steinke also earned honorable mention. This season with a .355 batting average as CSC's leadoff hitter, she leads the team in runs, hits, triples and walks drawn. Steinke and Zimmerman both have 10 doubles.
Zimmerman, a sophomore from Reno, Nevada, earned second team honors as a utility player.
This season, Zimmerman leads the Eagles with a batting average of .393 while earning starts at designated player, first base and third base. She has jacked 11 homers and leads CSC with 42 RBIs.
With a record of 15-9, Farnsworth has the sixth lowest ERA in the RMAC at 2.76, earning her second team honors.
A freshman from Centennial, Colorado, Farnsworth has struck out 131 batters while only allowing 56 runs in 142 innings this month.
Haug, a junior from Commerce City, Colorado, earned honorable mention as CSC's second starting pitcher.
Haug has a record of 10-15 with an ERA of 3.79 this season. She has pitched 155.1 innings this season and held her opponents to a batting average of .267.
Kroll, CSC's cather, leads the Eagles with 16 home runs. Against Adams State, she hit five homeruns over the series, setting a new school record.
The junior from Brighton, Colorado is second on the team with 41 RBI's and has a batting average of .291.
Quijas was named honorable mention after being named the final RMAC Softball Player of the Week.
A senior from Erie, Colorado, Quijas finished last weekend with a perfect batting average, going 12 of 12 against CSU-Pueblo. She is second for the Eagles with a .374 average at the plate while being a mainstay at third base the past four seasons.
Lastly, Rothstein, a sophomore from Lakewood, Colorado, has a batting average of .323 while being the starter in right field.
Rothstein heads into the RMAC tournament with 43 hits and 26 runs scored this season.
Colorado Christian won three of the major awards this season. Kenzie Middleton was the Player of the Year while Kali Crandall was the Pitcher of the Year. The Cougars coach, Larry Hays, was named RMAC Coach of the Year.
Jenna Medhus of MSU-Denver was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year.

Quijas named RMAC Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- May 2, 2023 -- After having the first perfect weekend at the plate in CSC softball history, Sloane Quijas has been named the RMAC Week 13 Softball Player of the Week.
Quijas, a senior from Erie, Colorado, went a perfect 12 for 12 at the plate in CSC's 3-1 series victory over CSU-Pueblo last weekend.
The senior had 12 hits in 12 at bats, while scoring seven runs and adding five RBIs. With a slugging percentage of 1.167, Quijas hit two doubles and drew three walks over the weekend.
Quijas had three hits in each of the four games. In the series opener, she hit a two RBI double and an RBI single, helping the Eagles earn a 13-1 victory.
In the series third game, a single to center field by Quijas added her two other RBIs.
Quijas joins two other CSC softball players to receive the honor from the RMAC. Mackenzi Kroll was the week 10 Player of the Week, while Delaney Farnsworth was the week 5 Pitcher of the Week.
The softball team's season continues on Thursday when they face Regis in the opening round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament in Lakewood, Colorado.
