Creek Valley football storms ahead under new direction

CHAPPELL - Desmond Doles takes over a Creek Valley football program that finished 0-8 a season ago.
Doles and his wife, Stefanie, moved to Chappell ahead of the new school year. Stefanie is the new Storm volleyball coach.
Doles is no stranger to football. He played college football at Ottawa University and was a strength and conditioning assistant at the University of Kansas. However, he didn’t know six-man football existed until he started to research his new hometown.
“Six-man football is a beast of its own when trying to learn the ins and outs of the game,” Doles said.
Thanks to his new assistant coach, and former Creek Valley player, Tucker Graeff, Doles isn’t intimidated by the six-man game.
Creek Valley graduated one senior from last season. The Storm hope to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2020, when they finished the season 7-3 and lost to Arther County in the second round.
Doles says he’s excited to help change the culture at Creek Valley with his system that consists of “Pride, Relentlessness and Belief.”
“Relentless means to be relentless in anything you do, believing in the process, and being prideful of the school, community, and the town,” Doles said.
The Storm open the season on Aug. 25 at home vs. Sioux County. Doles says he wants his players to do their jobs.
“If we get them to do their job, then that makes our job easier to make adjustments,” Doles said.
