Red Raiders Tame the Mustangs in Home Opener
he Sidney Red Raiders dominated the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs in their home opener at Weymouth Field, winning 56-14. Sidney wasted no time, opening the game with a four-play, 63-yard drive in just 1 minute and 12 seconds.

SIDNEY - The Sidney Red Raiders dominated the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs in their home opener at Weymouth Field, winning 56-14. Sidney wasted no time, opening the game with a four-play, 63-yard drive in just 1 minute and 12 seconds.
They continued to shine, scoring on their first six possessions in the first half, and even added a 43-yard pick-six by sophomore Alek Doty, making it 48-7 at halftime and triggering the 35-point running clock rule in the second half.
Senior Luke Holly was the star, rushing for 99 yards on nine carries with four rushing touchdowns and catching a 12-yard touchdown pass. Isak Doty contributed with eight completions on 11 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns, along with 43 rushing yards on five carries. Sophomore Keian Kaiser caught three passes for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Sidney's balanced offense totaled 193 rushing yards and 179 passing yards for a grand total of 372 yards.
On the other side, junior Wyatt Feddersen led the Gordon-Rushville team with 66 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown, while senior Caleb Huck added 65 yards on nine carries and a touchdown. The Mustangs managed to accumulate 182 yards of total offense.
With this victory, Sidney improved to 3-0 for the season, while Gordon-Rushville fell to 0-3. Sidney's next challenge will be hosting the also undefeated Mitchell Tigers next Friday night at Weymouth Field. Mitchell is now 3-0 following a 42-14 win over Chadron Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
