Eagles notes: Cross Country competes in South Dakota
The Chadron State cross country team competed at the Gage McSpadden Memorial in Sturgis, South Dakota yesterday, with the women finishing third and the men fourth.
STURGIS, S.D. -- The Chadron State cross country team competed at the Gage McSpadden Memorial in Sturgis, South Dakota yesterday, with the women finishing third and the men fourth.
South Dakota Mines won the women's race and Black Hills State finished in second. The Eagles defeated MSU-Billings. For the men, Black Hills State won the team title, followed by South Dakota Mines, MSU-Billings and CSC.
Individuals who led the men's team last week did not compete yesterday.
Alissa Wieman, a junior form Box Elder, South Dakota, had the best finish for the women's team, placing 12th with a time of 16:27:1 in the 4k race.
Katelyn Beshara, a freshman from Rapid City, South Dakota, ran her race in 16:52:7, placing 16th.
Tukker Romey and Zelma Rudd finished in 20th and 21st place, respectively. Romey, a junior from Gering, Nebraska, finished in 17:04:6 while Rudd, a freshman from Cody, Wyoming, crossed the finish line in 17:05:5.
In 25th place was Kayla Jordan, a freshman from Clark, South Dakota, finishing in 17:36:7. Breeanna Meats, Izabella Miller and Ivy Hise finished in 33rd, 34th and 38th place, respectively.
Five different runners competed for the CSC men in the race, led by Miles Mitchell in 38th place.
Mitchell, a sophomore from Rapid City, crossed the finish line in 21:44:9.
Trevor Eisenbraun, a junior from Norfolk, Nebraska and Hunter Lund, a freshman from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, finished in 40th and 42nd, respectively.
Finishing in 44th and 45th for the CSC men were Franklin Johns and Adam Beard. Johns, a freshman form Gordon, Nebraska, and Adam Beard, a freshman from Berthoud, Colorado, both finished at 22:32.

Fago and Hernandez named to All-Tourney Team
WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Mayson Fago, a senior from Evans, Colorado and Alondra Hernandez, a junior from Provo, Utah, were named to the 2023 Rollins Invitational All-Tournament Team that was announced today.
Fago and Hernandez helped the Eagles finish the weekend 2-2 and extend their record to 4-3 overall.
On day one of the tournament, Fago recorded 10 and 14 kills in the Eagles two matches. In a four-set loss to Florida Tech, she had an attack percentage of .143 with her ten kills.
Against Rollins College, Fago had her best match of the season, helping the Eagles win in four sets. She had a season high in kills and attack percentage, finishing with 14 kills and a .343 attack percentage.
Fago added eight kills in a three-set victory on day two and had six in CSC's three set loss to Auburn University – Montgomery.
Hernandez opened the Rollins Invitational with a new season high in digs. Against Florida Tech, she recorded 30 in a four-set loss. She also added three service aces and six assists.
During the Eagles four set victory against Rollins on Friday, Hernandez added 22 digs.
In six sets on day two, Hernandez recorded a total of 25 digs.
CSC returns to action on Friday, September 15, when they travel to Golden, Colorado for a matchup with Colorado School of Mines.
