UPDATE: Sedgwick County Health Center CEO Aidan Hettler said Colorado Medicaid is not accepted in Nebraska.

CHAPPELL (October 25, 2023) -- Regional West Medical Center announced the closing of the Sidney and Chappell family medicine clinics in July 2023. Today residents learned more of Sedgwick County Health Center's plan in taking over the clinic.

"We'll have the facility open Monday, Wednesday and Friday just like it was before. And then, of course, if you need services in between then, we have our locations in Big Springs and Julesburg," said  Sedgwick County Health Center CEO Aidan Hettler.

He said the plan is to restore as much of the familiarity as possible, including staff and hours of service. He said Colorado Medicaid will be accepted in the Chappell clinic, and Nebraska's system will be honored in Julesburg.

"We know a lot of people in this community saw Angie Robb and doctored with her. She is now part of Sedgwick County Health Center's provider team. We're really excited to have her. Once we reopen the Chappell location, she will be here on Mondays and Wednesdays," said Hettler.

The Chappell clinic services will include treatment for colds and flu, chronic health problems, prescriptions and medications review, wellness exams, blood draws and referrals for x-rays.

"If anything is of that level of severity that is greater than what can be handled here they'll ask that you go to our hospital in Julesburg and we'll treat you in the emergency department," he said.

Hettler said they are looking into partnering with other facilities to provide specialty services. The hospital is also working on a new health records system.

The target date to reopen the Chappell clinic is January 2024.
