GORDON - Periods of freezing drizzle created ice accumulation on trees, power lines and roads in northern Nebraska Thursday morning.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4 a.m. Friday for Sheridan and Cherry Counties. According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, roads in both counties were completely covered in ice.
A traveler on Highway 20 west of Gordon was seen sliding in their vehicle as they approached a corner of the road. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne says travel is expected to remain difficult as a few hundreths of an inch are still likely.
The NWS says to be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
