Sidney residents encouraged to cast opinion on future downtown appearance
SIDNEY -- The community is encouraged to visit WNCC in Sidney and leave your opinion on display boards with graphics of what Sidney is, and what other communities are doing.

SIDNEY -- What do residents of Sidney want the community to look like? Secondly, what's stopping us and how do we get there?
Display boards with graphics of downtown Sidney and other communities are at Western Nebraska Community College in Sidney through November 15.
"I think that we need input from all different sectors of the community; young, married, single, family, retired ... just get more input on what people want to see downtown," Melissa Norgard said in a recent downtown open house with RDG Planning and Design.
The question is about appearance, motif, as much as content. Does the community favor an "Old Town" appearance, something trendy, functional or a blend of the above?
Placards with diagrams of downtown Sidney, and illustrations of other communities, are on display at Western Nebraska Community College in Sidney. The placards are just inside the east entrance outside of the library.
The survey includes questions like does downtown have enough restaurants, and what kind.
Discussion points include what can be done with vacant buildings in Sidney.
Sticky notes are available to leave your opinion on how you envision Sidney's future.
