Weekend to include free concert at Fox Theater

SIDNEY -- The Sidney community is invited to welcome the Christmas season with "Holiday in Hickory" in downtown Sidney December 2.

"The City has decided to do an event on December 2nd; a free chili feed from 5 to 7, a Parade of Lights at 6 p.m., followed by the Lighting of the Tree with Santa," said Autumn Ramirez, Human Resources Director/Administrative Assistant for the City of Sidney.

The Parade of Lights starts at 6 p.m. with line-up at 14th Avenue and Jackson Street. The parade ends at 8th Avenue and Jackson Street.

"December 2nd, we will be having the City of Sidney Parade of Lights. It starts at 6 o'clock. Line-up is at 5:30 p.m. on the corner of 14th and Jackson. It goes from 14th and Jackson down to 8th Avenue. The theme is 'Winter Wonderland.' If anybody would like to put a float in, all they need to do is give me a call at 308-254-4441," said Christine Radtke with the City of Sidney.

Radtke said all it takes is submit the name of the organization or business to her. 

The evening will be filled with fun and memories from 5 p.m. until late. A Chili Feed starts at 5 p.m. Donations will be accepted with proceeds supporting future Holiday in Hickory events.

Festivities also include a concert by Justin Todd Herod at the Fox Theater on December 2. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Herod is an award-winning Country singer, songwriter and guitarist from East Texas who has written and produced 10 Country, Christian Country and Blues album and has toured the U.S. full time for more than 20 years. 

The evening will also have a Photo Booth hosted by. Charlotte & Emerson, s'mores by Pedalers Corner, hot cocoa by Sidney Regional Medical Center, ornament kits by Sidney Public Library and of course Santa, and Christmas music.
