Stolen motorcycle located in Montana
Cheyenne County authorities were informed November 20 that a motorcycle reported stolen from Cheyenne County has been found in Montana.
SIDNEY -- A motorcycle stolen from Cheyenne County was reported found in Montana November 20.
The Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office reported being contacted by Butte-Silver Bow, Mont., officials regarding a stolen Yamaha dirt bike.
The motorcycle is connected to a theft that occurred east of Dalton in January 2021. The 2021 theft involved four dirt bike motorcycles and BMX bicycles and a cherrypicker stolen from a Quonset building.
Three of the four motorcycles were recovered in Sidney in March 2022.
According to the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office activity report, the Cheyenne County Emergency Communications Center reported the motorcycle located in Montana was still reported stolen as of November 20. Montana authorities report the motorcycle was involved in an accident and they have possession of it. Montana authorities were forwarded Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office contact information.
Sheriff Adam Frerichs said today they are considering a person of interest in the case.
"There's going to be a lot of pieces to link together," Frerichs said.
