Sutherland man accused of sexual assault and domestic violence appears in Lincoln County District Court

A Sutherland man accused of sexually assaulting and beating a woman in Sutherland appeared in Lincoln County District Court Monday morning.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A Sutherland man accused of sexually assaulting and beating a woman in Sutherland appeared in Lincoln County District Court Monday morning.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Juan Martinez arrived at a woman’s house uninvited and demanded sex in September of 2023. When the individual refused Martinez’s alleged demands and attempted to flee. Law enforcement said that Martinez threw the victim onto a bed and continued to strike her.

Martinez faces charges of first-degree sexual assault first-degree false imprisonment and domestic assault causing bodily injury. While in court, Martinez and his attorney requested a bond revocation, a request the state objected to referencing Martinez’s repeat offenses and the nature of the crime in question.

Judge Cindy Volkmer denied the request for bond revocation and set a pre-trial date in the case for April 1, 2024.
