SIDNEY - The Cheyenne County Sheriff's office is investigating a rash of burglaries involving the igloos north of Sidney, vehicles, ATVs and trailers.

Sheriff Adam Frerichs says his office and the Sidney Police Department executed a search warrant Thursday at a residence in Sidney believed to be involved with the theft of a couple ATVs. Authorities arrested three people as a result of the investigation.

Despite the arrests, Frerichs believes there is more than one group committing the latest string of crimes. He advises people to check their property, report any thefts and make an effort to make your belongings "hard targets."

"We would urge residents to please check their valuables in their igloos and report any thefts to our agency immediately," Frerichs said in a press release on Friday. "Also, please do not leave vehicles and trailers parked unattended in remote areas and please lock the vehicles and pull the keys."

Frerichs says they've stepped up patrol in the igloos areas and surveillance has been set up there, as well.
