The city of Kimball has spent most of Saturday in the cross hairs of a relatively small spring storm. A rain/snow mix that could bring accumulating snow up to four inches overnight and into Sunday has brought the town to a halt.

Power is out in most of Kimball. While exact causes have not been released, high winds are believed to be a factor. The large limb of an evergreen tree has given way and fallen on south Howard St. Kimball Police are on scene to direct traffic and ensure safety.

The city has announced the landfill will not be accepting construction and debris items today due to high winds and warns the facility may close early today. Kimball Ace Hardware and their liquor store, Whiskey Dicks have announced their closure for the day on social media and the Sagebrush will not open for diners this evening.

Travel is not advised in Kimball County as conditions worsen and first responders are forced to work on more than one incident at a time.

The power outage has forced 104.3 KIMB off the air. While backup power is available at the downtown studios, power is also out at the tower site one mile north of town.
