SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Commissioners approved two Promotions Grants passed by the Visitors Committee.

The Visitors Committee approved a grant in the amount of $4,500 for Sidney Gold Rush Days.

The event is scheduled for the second weekend in June.

The June 7-9 event is expected to include several new attractions. This is the 20th year of Sidney Gold Rush Days.

"New things this year, we're increasing the number of vendors, and we're adding a poker tournament, and we're working -- not 100 percent -- up a corn hole tournament with the Rotary Club, " said Ken Geu, member of the Gold Rush Days board, said in the April 15 meeting.

Another new event is a Scavenger Hunt Bike Ride. To register for the bicycle scavenger hunt or the poker tournament, go to the Gold Rush Days website at sidneygoldrushdays.org.

Fair Board awarded $7,500 by Visitors Committee

Tourism Director Kendra Mitchell also presented a Promotions Grant in the amount of $7,500 for the Cheyenne County Fair Board.

"They have plans for radio ads, print ads, lots of digital ads. They're going to focus more of the budget on digital this year," Mitchell said.

In 2023, the Visitors Committee approved $5,200 for the Fair Board.
