Kimball students organize Community Cleanup Day

KIMBALL -- The entire Kimball Jr./Sr. High School of 162 students will be out in the community between 1:30 and 3 p.m. Monday, April 22nd helping businesses with their cleaning projects.
Senior students Aspyn Kiefer and Jessica Terrill said they will cover as much of Kimball as possible; each cleanup job is maxed out at an hour.
Services they’ve done in the past were pulling weeds, repainting parking lines, picking up trash, and power washing buildings and sidewalks.
This year, Ace Hardware is requesting help with putting plants out and building tents for their Garden Center.
“It’s really just anything they don’t have time to do, any odd jobs,” Terrill said.
If you want any assistance, call the school at 308-235-4861 by the end of the school day on Friday to get on the schedule for Monday.
Their services do not cost, but the students are accepting free-will donations that will go directly to a long-time Kimball community family – the Gilming family. They have two members of their family going through medical hardships, both of which are in recovery but have a long haul ahead of them.
“It’s been a lot of time in the hospital, and hospitals are not cheap,” Terrill said.
Kiefer adds, “neither is gas,” regarding the travel involved with going between Kimball and Scottsbluff for doctor’s appointments.
Anyone can also donate to the fund by dropping it in a donation bucket at various businesses around town including The Sagebrush, Vince’s Corner, Kwik Stop, Pizza Hut and Ace Hardware.
