BANNER COUNTY -- Authorities are investigating a single vehicle accident that claimed the life of a 29-year-old Scottsbluff man May 3.

Jaimin Mesa, of Scottsbluff, was driving a Ford sedan eastbound on Highway 88W about four miles east of the Wyoming state line when the car went out of control and rolled multiple times.

Authorities report Mesa was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car.

Banner County Sheriff Zane Hopkins reports the accident was discovered by a passing motorist about 6 a.m. and likely occurred between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.

Speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors in the accident, according to Hopkins.
