KIMBALL -- Two Kimball Jr. High students competed at the Jr. High Nebraska Champions Meet May 11.

JaLeigh Bohac threw 111’5’’ in the Discus coming in first place as a state champion and breaking the previous 8th grade record by 6 feet.

The previous record stood for 52 years by Laurie Schadegg in 1972.

Brayden Fuss was selected for the Pole Vault by having a personal record of 10 ft. At the meet he went 8’6’’ in pole vaulting. Although he did not place in the state championship, it was a huge accomplishment to make it to the state meet.

“You have to be at top of your game,” said Jr. High Boys Track Head Coach Jacob Hoffman. “At the Champions Meet, it's all class, so it's just the best kids in the state.”

The Nebraska Champions Meet includes roughly 16 events, with each event taking the top 24 students.
