KEARNEY, Neb. — The Kearney Police Department is analyzing its enforcement during the city’s Cruise Nite festivities.

A news release says police received 196 calls for service between 6:00 p.m. on Friday through 6:00 a.m. on Sunday. Officers investigated seven traffic accidents and performed 71 traffic stops.

Police issued 39 written warnings and 22 citations, one of which was for leaving the scene of an accident. Officers made two arrests for assault, three for disturbances and one for larceny.

Compared to last year, police performed more traffic stops but investigated fewer accidents. The number of warnings and citations were similar.

Kearney Police deployed extra resources to Cruise Nite weekend thanks to a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Office of Highway Safety.
