SIDNEY -- Workers are busy stripping the roof off of the Cheyenne County Courthouse.

About a month ago, the Cheyenne County Commissioners approved a contract with All-Seasons Restoration and Roofing of Sidney to repair the courthouse roof. The $468,000 job is for replacement of the roof and installing a tapered roof without removing the roof-top chillers.

Work on the roof began January 2.  The northeast parking lot will be closed to the public and employees until the new roof is completed.

To date, workers have been removing the spray polyurethane foam down to the original built-up roof, according to Cheyenne County Building and Grounds Superintendent Tom Payne.

The work is expected to take about three weeks.
