MCCOOK, Neb. — A McCook woman is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly firing a gun near a teenager during an argument Friday afternoon.

The Frontier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a firearm incident at 12:42 p.m. at a McCook residence.

According to court documents, Kenya Wheat, 49, is accused of firing a single shot from a handgun outside the home following a dispute.

A witness reported Wheat became upset after pills were spilled on the floor and argued with a man at the residence. During the incident, a 16-year-old teenager began picking up the pills to discard them. Wheat then retrieved a handgun, stepped outside and fired a single round.
