Sen. Strommen introduces four bills, takes on key legislative roles in busy session

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska State Senator Paul Strommen, representing District 47, has announced the introduction of three new legislative bills this session, bringing his total to four. The announcement comes as the Nebraska Legislature concludes the bill introduction period, with 715 bills filed in this 90-day session.
Sen. Strommen outlined the details of his recently introduced measures in a weekly update, emphasizing their impact on rural healthcare, small business employees and tax policy clarity.
- LB 697 seeks to amend requirements under the Pharmacy Practice Act, focusing on compounding and delegated dispensing permits. Strommen highlighted the bill’s potential to improve healthcare in rural communities.
- LB 698 proposes amendments to the Nebraska Healthy Families and Workplaces Act to bolster protections for employees of small businesses.
- LB 699 aims to refine provisions under the ImagiNE Nebraska Act, simplifying language surrounding sales and use tax incentives to make them more effective and accessible.
These bills, Strommen said, align with his commitment to addressing pressing issues for Nebraskans, particularly those in rural and underserved areas.
In addition to legislative work, Strommen has taken on key leadership roles in the Legislature. He was recently elected Vice Chairperson of the Planning Committee, a position he says will allow him to shape Nebraska’s strategic future. He also serves on the Appropriations Committee, the STAR WARS (Statewide Tourism and Recreation Water Access and Resource Sustainability) Special Committee, and the Homeland Security Policy Group.
“These roles provide me the opportunity to have a direct impact on Nebraska’s public safety, defense and overall strategic policy planning,” Strommen said.
The Legislature has now shifted from bill introduction to committee hearings, a phase where proposed legislation is reviewed and debated. Strommen emphasized the importance of these discussions and encouraged citizens to get involved by sharing their views during the hearings.
Strommen also noted his efforts to engage with community organizations and nonprofits at various networking receptions. These events, he said, have helped him connect with service providers offering educational, healthcare and other resources to Nebraskans.
“Every day brings new opportunities,” Strommen said. “I look forward to continuing to work on these important issues and will keep my constituents updated as the session progresses.”
