Charges amended in Jan. 20 teen death case

Charges against Corey T. Rotherham Jr. were amended to Aiding and Abetting Second Degree Murder, and Aiding and Abetting Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony.

GERING, Neb. – On Jan. 23, Devante D.A. Castellaw and Corey T. Rotherham Jr., both of Scottsbluff, were arrested on charges of Second-Degree Murder and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony.

Second-degree murder is a Class 1B felony, while use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony is a Class 2 felony.

The charges against Rotherham Jr., were amended on February 4 to Aiding and Abetting Second-Degree Murder, a Class 1B felony, and Aiding and Abetting Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony, also a Class 1B felony.

Rotherham was scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Scotts Bluff County Court.
